THINKING OF SOLAR FOR NEXT YEAR?
HUGE SAVINGS on solar systems for 2027 installation NOW!
If you own a home in Devon and your electricity bills have been climbing, solar panels are worth a proper look. Electrix Renewable have been installing domestic solar systems across Torbay, Exeter, South Hams and the wider county for over 20 years.
We are MCS certified, RECC members, and most of our work comes through recommendation.
We will tell you honestly whether your roof and your property are well-suited to solar before we recommend anything. If the numbers stack up, we will design a system around how you actually use energy, not just the largest system that fits on your roof.
Why Devon homeowners choose solar
Devon gets a reasonable amount of sunshine and across a full year most well-sited properties in Torbay, the South Hams and around Exeter generate a meaningful amount of their own electricity from solar panels. The key factors are roof orientation, pitch, and shading, not just the weather.
The financial case has improved considerably over the last few years. The cost of panels has fallen while electricity unit rates have stayed high. A typical domestic installation now pays back within seven to ten years, and then runs for twenty or more years with very little maintenance. Add battery storage and you keep more of what you generate, using it in the evenings rather than exporting it at a low rate.
The Smart Export Guarantee, which replaced the old feed-in tariff, pays you for surplus energy you export back to the grid. To qualify, your system must be installed by an MCS certified installer, using MCS certified panels. All Electrix Renewable installations meet that requirement.

What a home solar installation covers
Every installation is designed around your specific property.
Before we recommend a system size or layout, we carry out a full roof survey and look at your electricity bills to understand your usage pattern.
We then design a system that makes sense for your home and your budget.

• Roof survey and shading analysis
• System design: panel count, orientation and layout
• Supply and installation of MCS certified solar panels
• Inverter supply and installation
• DNO notification and grid connection paperwork
• MCS certificate issued on completion
• Monitoring setup and handover
• Optional battery storage integration
• Ongoing maintenance and annual inspection service
Battery storage alongside solar
A solar panel system on its own is most useful when you are at home during the day. If you are out from nine to five, most of what your panels generate will be exported to the grid rather than used in your home. Adding battery storage changes that.
We install battery systems from Fogstar, Eleven Energy and other leading manufacturers alongside domestic solar. The battery charges during the day from surplus generation, and you draw from it during the evening. It also means you can charge cheaply from the grid overnight on a smart tariff. We can configure the whole system to work together through a single monitoring platform.
Smart Export Guarantee and finance
If your system is MCS certified and your inverter meets the technical requirements, you are entitled to register for the Smart Export Guarantee with an energy supplier of your choice. Octopus Energy, as one of our partners, offers competitive SEG rates and integrates well with the smart monitoring systems we install.
We work with finance providers to offer payment options for homeowners who would rather spread the cost. The Warm Homes Loan Scheme, due to open to consumers in September 2026, will also allow eligible homeowners to access subsidised finance for solar and battery storage. We will be a qualifying installer from launch.
